What we did on a rainy morning...thank goodness the sun came out in the afternoon for them to show off their face paint. This was an unhappy witch who really wanted me to get her shovel from the beach house...

My view during my evening run...it does a body good!

Yup...that's the rounded backside of a GIGANTIC lobster...on a flatbed truck...in the middle of Georgetown...

Someday, Little Girl may not remember she once had a beagle named Fanta, but hopefully she'll remember how much she loved her Little Dog...

It's not exactly the classic "kids playing around the fire hydrant", but this will have to do :-)

Happy last day of school!!! No more dual drop-offs! No more dual pick-ups! Everyone will be at the same school in the Fall! And I have them all to myself for 8 weeks! Wait...what?!

Oh, it'll be great. One huge advantage of living in the city is having access to a lot of FREE summer programs and events (thank you James Smithson!). The children will finally learn how to swim this summer (fingers crossed). We'll take impromptu day trips to places we've never been (like the Scottish Rites Temple).  And I'll enjoy documenting their every move with my cameras.

Here's my sweet, sweet rising First Grader wishing you a fantastic and delightful summer!!!

My apologies for being MIA. There's a lot going on all at once on the home front, and I've had to juggle my work schedule a little bit to make sure all other bases are covered. Tomorrow is the last day of school for all three children so I will be posting lots of fun photos from our jaunts around the city and its environs. If you are looking for some great ideas on what to do with your children during the summer months in the DC metro area, please consider joining Our Kids -- it is a great resource on the hip happenings around town for kids.

Speaking of Our Kids...congratulations to Kim T. on winning the iPhonography class! I look forward to meeting you in person and sharing my tips and tricks with you! For those of you who are interested in joining us, please feel free to email me with your "ideal" dates/times. Since the summer months are so unpredictable (last minute trips to the beach or visits to grandma's), it will help me get a better sense of what would be the best dates/times to hold iPhonography classes. Also, it might be a welcomed 2-hr respite  for moms and dads from the busy summer schedules ;-)

As I mentioned not long ago, one of our beloved beagles might have a terminal illness. It turns out she does have a form of rare T-cell lymphoma on one of her lymph nodes. The good news is, it is slow-growing and treatable. Other than that, she is acting completely normally, happy and as obstinate as ever. So the old girl has started on a 20-wk chemotherapy protocol and possibly radiation, and hopefully she will be with us for at least another couple of years. Fingers and paws crossed.

Here are my children testing out a new dog bed (it's more like a throne, by the size of it) at the pet supply shop:

While I'm not a diehard Star Wars fan (sacrilegious, I know!), these two books made me smile :-)

During his week of recovery, my husband decided to grow his beard. For those of you who do not know him, this is beyond unusual. Before this, there was rarely a day when he did not shave. So on the day when he decided to shave it off, the kids and I documented his beard for posterity.

It was more than just a beard. It was a reminder, it was a recovery and it was a rejuvenation of sorts. I'm so glad you are ok, papa. XO
